Iceni Cycles, a trailblazer in the cargo bike sector, has announced the cessation of its operations. Richard Grigsby, the company’s director, has decided to retire after a distinguished career in the cycling industry, during which he expanded one of the largest cycle-to-work scheme companies. Under his leadership, Wiltshire-based Iceni Cycles supplied trikes to clients ranging from FedEx to numerous independent businesses seeking van-free trading solutions.
The legacy of Iceni Cycles will continue through strategic partnerships with several electric cargo bike and trike specialists. Colchester eCargo will oversee the supply of replacement parts to existing customers, ensuring uninterrupted service. Specialized servicing and repairs will be managed by e-bike business Cycledelik, while future production will be handled by The Bicycle Engineering Academy in Limerick, Ireland.
In a heartfelt letter to past partners and customers, Richard Grigsby expressed his gratitude, stating, “This has not been an easy decision, but I am delighted to be able to tell you that whilst the company is coming to an end of its journey, the Iceni Cargo bike itself will live on.” He reflected on the journey from a modest engineering project to a unique British-built cargo bike trusted by facilities, businesses, local authorities, and organizations across the industry.
