Amflow Unveils Future Trajectory with All-Terrain Touring E-Bike
Amflow has just announced its exciting expansion beyond the performance-centric electric mountain bike market, introducing a robust all-terrain touring e-bike powered by its subsidiary Avinox, featuring the innovative new M2 motor.
This strategic diversification is encapsulated in the Amflow TL Carbon, which boasts an impressive 1,280Wh battery capacity, enabling it to carry a generous 200kg load. An optional front rack is available, supporting an additional 20kg, making it ideal for adventurous outings into the wild. The standard rear rack, compatible with MIK-HD, is capable of supporting 27kg of gear.
At a starting weight of just 22.6kg, the TL model’s frame weighs only 2.9kg, constructed with progressive efficiency in mind. This engineering ensures that riders can cover trails with ease. Boasting a co-developed, exclusive suspension system with Fox, the bike features a 120mm front fork and a 105mm rear shock. Amflow claims exceptional anti-squat performance from this setup, optimizing all pedal power to minimize energy loss.
As seen in their mountain bike lineup, the touring e-bike offers an adjustable head tube angle, alterable by 1 degree, allowing enthusiasts to fully exploit the bike’s capabilities on a 29-inch wheel configuration. Various configuration options are available, including full 27.5 (standard), mullet, reverse mullet, and complete 29er setups.
Included in the basic model are front and rear mudguards, a rear rack, a water bottle cage, pedals, a headlight, and a tail light. Riders can easily remove the racks and mudguards, transforming the Amflow TL into a more traditional off-road mountain bike, adhering to all necessary mountain bike standards, including CAT-III Certification.
The Avinox and Amflow Approach to Touring
Much has been discussed regarding Avinox motors, so let’s delve into the impressive battery specifications. Standardly equipped with an 800Wh battery integrated into the carbon chassis, Amflow also offers a 480Wh secondary range extender battery, theoretically adding up to 100km of range. This bike features a quick-release battery hatch for effortless battery swaps.
In addition, Avinox has introduced a new charging hub that supports up to four batteries simultaneously. Collaborating with TRP, Amflow has implemented SmoothShift electronic shifting technology, which seamlessly detects gear-shift signals and executes shifts without requiring the rider to pedal. When paired with an Avinox-specific chain, this system provides smooth gear changes under high torque by intelligently reducing torque during shifts to minimize shock and protect the chain.
As Amflow continues to stay ahead of its competitors in software development, this touring model incorporates cutting-edge features like a smart heart rate monitor that allows users to set safe operational thresholds. Compatibility with DJI’s Osmo action cameras enables riders to sync their cameras with the bike’s controls. Additionally, Apple Find My tracking is available for enhanced security, while offline navigation and on-screen route guidance make this touring e-bike an invaluable companion for cross-country adventures.
No official release date has been announced, though it’s anticipated to roll out later this year with an eye-popping price tag of £3,199.
As a follow-up to the company’s successful debut, the Amflow PL Carbon, the TL model sets a new benchmark in the realm of e-bikes.
