Moustache Lundi 27: A Fresh Start with the Bike That Started It All
For Moustache, the Lundi model signifies the beginning of an iconic journey. Fourteen years later, it remains a cornerstone of their offerings. Its distinctive frame, ultra-low step-through, and high-rise handlebars are instantly recognizable.
Major Redesign for 2027
As we approach the 2027 model year, Moustache has undertaken a comprehensive redesign of the Lundi 27. While the shape remains familiar, the brand is steering toward new technologies. The mid-motor system has been replaced by a rear motor, complemented by a smaller, lighter battery, leading to an overall reduction of approximately 3.5 kilograms in weight. Notably, the starting price has dropped to €2,399.
A Legacy of Innovation
Founded in 2011 by Greg Sand and Emmanuel Antonot in the Vosges region of France, Moustache launched the first Lundi bike in 2012. The brand’s name pays homage to the classic French “moustache handlebar,” characterized by its iconic bent shape, which continues to be a prominent visual feature in their latest generation of bikes.
Moustache proudly identifies as “Born Electric,” having specialized in e-bikes from the onset. The company has since grown to employ around 170 people, with all design and assembly taking place in France.

Lighter Handling with Rear Motor
The most significant technical update is found at the rear wheel, where Moustache has moved to the Bosch Hub Line—a compact rear motor delivering 45 Nm of torque and a maximum output of 400 watts. This shift marks a dramatic course change for Moustache, as previous Lundi models utilized Bosch’s mid-motor systems with torque outputs up to 75 Nm.
While 45 Nm may appear modest in an era where e-bikes flaunt ever-higher torque values, it’s enough for the Lundi’s intended urban use. Designed for short daily commutes and frequent stops, support cuts out at the customary limit of 25 km/h.
The switch to a rear motor affects weight distribution, contributing to a bike that feels lighter and more responsive. Weighing in at around 24 kilograms, the Lundi remains a substantial electric urban bike, but the reduction of 3.5 kilograms is keenly felt during maneuvering. The low step-through design persists, with a maximum allowed total weight of 150 kilograms. Moustache recommends the Lundi for riders ranging from 1.55 to 1.90 meters tall.
Conscious Battery Choice: 360 Wh
In contrast to the rising trend of larger batteries (500, 625, and 800 Wh), the new Lundi features a removable Bosch PowerTube of 360 Wh. This choice harmonizes with the bike’s intended daily use. Weighing about 2.1 kilograms, the 360 Wh battery is easy to carry indoors for charging. With a practical carrying strap, the setup becomes even more user-friendly, offering an estimated range of about 70 kilometers, depending on factors like rider weight, terrain, and weather.
Charging is expedited by a 4A charger, achieving a full charge in around two hours, with quicker partial charges possible.
For those in need of extended range, Moustache offers the Bosch PowerMore 250 range extender, bumping the total available energy to 610 Wh—an intuitive solution for daily riders seeking to minimize battery weight while maximizing capacity as needed.
Additionally, the Bosch Smart System provides features increasingly common on modern e-bikes. The Purion 200 integrates controls and display functions, while connectivity options allow users to access anti-theft features and other enhancements via a smartphone app.
Options for Every Rider
Moustache introduces the new Lundi 27 in two distinctly different versions, both priced at €2,399.
The Chain model features a Shimano 9-speed derailleur, appealing to those frequently navigating inclines or preferring manual gearing.
The Belt model goes further, embodying the philosophy of hassle-free urban commuting. Here, Moustache combines the Bosch rear motor with a belt drive and a single speed—no derailleur, no shifting. Just hop on and start pedaling.
This design direction aligns with Moustache’s target demographic, particularly first-time e-bike buyers who appreciate simplicity. The belt drive requires minimal maintenance and eliminates the need for traditional chain lubrication.
Further customization is possible with optional accessories like front carriers, child seats, additional batteries, and various safety features. A limited Launch Edition, capped at 270 units, will be available for €2,899, offering a more extensive package including the SmartphoneGrip and ConnectModule.
The Lundi thus returns to its original ethos: a stylish urban bike that remains accessible, comfortable, and user-friendly.
